Memorable stay in Trongsa

Fabulous hotel. Beautiful buildings, lovely room with balcony looking across to Trongsa Fortress. Delicious meals and wonderful service.

No power, no way!

It's a beautiful spot with all units facing the Trongsa Dzong that looks amazing at night all floodlit. But the power supply is unreliable and though it was very nice to be given candles at dinner until the lights came on again, then went off, then came on, all the while seeing that the Dzong had ITS lights, my real issue is when I retired to my room after dinner, power and lights went out and stayed out ALL NIGHT.
When I inquired in the morning about charging my phone, they said I should have informed them last night that I had no power, but I had assumed the whole complex was out like it was at dinner. Anyway, they sent someone to fix the problem which took a while so it wasn't just a breaker switch tripping.
I recommend looking elsewhere.

Stunning view, lovely gardens

This hotel has an absolutely stunning view of Trongsa Dzong across the valley. The staff are very welcoming, there is a lovely garden with pretty birds (we saw yellow billed blue magpies with their extra extravagant tails). The food is very nice. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the view and we watched the light changing as our entertainment. You do have to be very careful in the bathroom as the floor tiles are extremely slippery when wet and I nearly knocked myself out falling over.

Excellent meals

This hotel undoubtedly offers the best meals we have eaten since the beginning of our tour of Bhutan ten days ago. Our room was very comfortable and the balcony had a great view of the dzong. On the other hand, it was cold in the bathroom where the lighting is really not optimal. In addition, the Wifi connection was of poor quality.

Trongsa's Resort Hotel

Yangkhil Resort is a great choice near the historic town of Trongsa. The grounds are landscaped with gardens, fish ponds and view of distant mountains. Our rooms and balconies looked directly at Trongsa Dzong, Taa Dzong. and the Mandge River. The town museum is well worth a visit, and it includes a well-made video in English. Meals were good and the staff was eager to please.
