Fantastic
We had a fantastic, gourmet weekend at hotel Geerts. Beautiful area for walking and cycling, centrally located, beautiful garden, super nice food and nice wines drunk, great service, blissful beds. The bathroom in our room could be modernized and we didn't like the coffee either. Top address where we will definitely go back!

Poor service
Very unfriendly service : got a table at toilet and kitchen . My mother wanted to move her chair so she wouldn't be touched by her broken arm. We were immediately rudely addressed that they still had to pass by. With 4 x aperitif only a small jar of olives. Crodino with fruit juice came with a mini carafe of fruit juice that was only 1/4 filled. When asked for a little extra fruit juice we got a dirty look. Aperitif board was with cheap cheese that was already very shiny. Here we asked for a slice of bread with what was also too much to ask. After the aperitif we had to ask ourselves after a while if we could order something from drink. Level of personnel was not trained or of the level you would expect in this case.

High quality restaurant!
Enjoyed a delicious lunch in the brasserie.
Parking (limited) in courtyard possible, if not very good to walk...
Beautiful interior with a beautiful view of a very nice garden!
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Delicious lobster soup as an appetizer. The dish with 2 kinds of steak from 3 different cattle, perfectly saignant cooked, with a delicious mushroom cream sauce was delicious! Delicious bottle of primitivo with it. Not cheap, but value for money definitely worth it!
Afterwards you can walk through the garden at the back through a gate along the Nete!
Parking (limited) in courtyard possible, if not very good to walk...

Poor Hotel Poor Management None Existent Car Parking on Tuesday night
We arrived at 2.00pm on Tuesday afternoon. Reception was unmanned and no one was around the hotel.
We searched the hotel but couldn’t find anyone so headed off to a local cafe for a drink. Back at 1530 still no one around . Finally someone turned up 10 minutes later and gave us our room keys. No apologies.
No one warned us that the free hotel car parking was unusable on Tuesday night because on every Wednesday morning a weekly market sets up outside the hotel at 0600 and you cannot get your car out of the hotel car park until 2.00 in the afternoon.
This was not mentioned as we checked in but by shear chance I read this in some paperwork in the room.
We were forced to park our car in a very dodgy side street away from the hotel.
When we tried to discuss this with the hotel manager she was not interested and shrugged her shoulders and was not interested in our views. We would NEVER have booked this hotel had we known this. Why is this not on the website!
They were only interested in trying get us to book a dinner table. No chance!
This hotel is overpriced, poorly run and just not worth staying at, especially on Tuesday night.
Never again.

Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to write a review. Unfortunately, and contrary to our usual policy, we feel the need to respond, as your review contains several inaccuracies.
Firstly, it is clearly stated that check-in is from 3:00 PM. This is standard practice not only at Hotel Geerts, but worldwide — often even later. That particular day, it happened to be an exceptionally hot 38°C, and the restaurant was exceptionally closed. While the receptionist was not present at 2:00 PM, he did arrive at 2:50 PM, allowing you — as you yourself mentioned — to wait comfortably in our air-conditioned lounge.
As has been the case for over 105 years, as long as Hotel Geerts has existed, there is a weekly market in front of the hotel every Wednesday. This has never been a cause for concern for our guests. While parking is available in our free private garage, guests are informed that cars cannot be moved before 1:30 PM on Wednesdays due to the market. If you need to leave earlier, we recommend — and clearly communicate — the free public parking just 200 metres away at the Delhaize supermarket, which is certainly not a ‘dodgy side street’.
This information is available on our website, at the reception, in the elevator, and in every room. Furthermore, we will also mention it personally during your stay if we know you have arrived by car. And of course if you are driving by car you should pay attention to the traffic signs. These too, on every entrance road to the market, inform about the market on Wednesday.
Secondly, we believe it is actually a matter of good service and hospitality that our receptionist asked about your dining preferences upon arrival. Especially on busy evenings, it is not always possible to walk into the restaurant and immediately be seated. By checking in advance, we aim to ensure our guests are well taken care of and can enjoy their meals without inconvenience.
We are truly sorry that your experience was so negative, but we wanted to clarify these points for the sake of accuracy.
