Completely carefree and very relaxing!

I spent a week here with my mother (currently mobility-impaired). It was wonderful all around, starting with the friendly care of the staff and the owner family. Beautiful premises, well-maintained and stylish, fantastic dinner menu, rich breakfast, fine soup, and delicious cake at noon. We especially enjoyed the indoor pool and the fitness room, and the wellness area also leaves nothing to be desired. The quiet location with a magnificent view is also unique. There are sufficient parking spaces, and the walk to the bus is not too far either. The possibilities in the Kleinwalsertal are diverse for every taste; we had a wonderful rest. Unreservedly recommended.

Prime location, time for an upgrade

We stayed a week in this hotel with our family of five (suite + adjoining room).
+++ Pros
The location is fantastic: right on the slopes and near the ski lift. Ideal for winter sports enthusiasts. In addition, the hotel has a very nice and sunny terrace with an excellent location — definitely one of the nicest places in the hotel.
The breakfast was very extensive and of good quality. The afternoon snacks were also fine. In the ministry, Igor really stood out: welcoming, humorous and visible pleasure in his work. Also a young intern at the reception was very friendly.
- - - Negatives
The hotel is very outdated and poorly maintained. Loose skirting boards, broken parts and a messy impression in several places. The many extensions make it a maze of corridors and doors.
The rooms are spacious but dated. They are very light and hard to darken; curtains do not close properly so it is quickly light in the morning. The bathroom is large but illogically laid out, with a small shower cubicle. The comfort and décor do not suit a 4-star hotel in this price range in 2026.
Dinner was disappointing (2 x soup which was just water, dishes little pronounced). The restaurant is divided into separate rooms. Staff otherwise changing; reception and departure at the reception less than cordial.
Also swimming pool (10x5 m) and sauna are dated and show overdue maintenance.
Conclusion
Great location, nice terrace and good breakfast. But due to the outdated condition, mediocre evening meals and poor value for money, we would not book again here without thorough renovation.

Favorite hotel finally found !

We have been coming to Kleinwalsertal at irregular intervals for about 10 years and deliberately choose a different 4-star hotel every time. This time the Hotel Birkenhöhe was chosen because we had got a room here at very short notice. What are we gonna say? We found our favorite hotel !! The search is over.
Very nice family run house, with an extremely nice boss. Only friendly staff at each post. An excellent cuisine that leaves nothing to be desired. Nice spa area, massages, pool saunas steam bath, everything perfect. We will definitely come back again and again,

It all fits perfectly.

Wonderful hotel. Here you can still see what makes a family-run hotel.
Excellent food and a chic ambience can certainly be found in other hotels in this segment. But the kindness and warmth is unique here. You feel welcome at any time.
Really everyone in team is doing a great job.
But one stands out in particular.
Igor: friendly, authentic and always in a good mood. A real character.

Wonderful relaxing holiday

Excellent hotel, both the service and management and especially the cuisine is outstanding. Beautiful views, Clean rooms and best service offer for guests from their own gym, sauna, swimming pool to massage & wellness offers.
