Maximally delicious food, great Staff, nice room

We've been here several times while my wife was recording her CD. It's a quaint older Hotel/Restaurant with excellent price for quality. The rooms have been renovated with nice big bathrooms. There are only about 6 guest rooms. The restaurant (and bar) on the ground floor offer truly excellent meals that are more than reasonably priced. Everything is fresh and homemade and you can taste the difference. The bar is clearly a meeting place for the friendly locals in the evening. The room was quiet and there is a sauna downstairs. Its a very friendly, homey comfortable place to stay. Nice breakfast buffet with extras as desired.

Don't look any further

'the' first choice place to stay in Bezau - rooms on par with hotels of twice the price - the 'kitchen' as good as ever. I've stayed in this Bregenzerwald village 20+ times and the Engel is as good as it gets if you seek classic Austrian quality without any 'bling'

Nicht willkommen

Wir wollten unseren Hochzeitstag und Geburtstag im Engel zu Zweit feiern. Leider, okay wir hatten nicht reserviert, wurden wir von, Chefin ?, mit seufzender und herablassender Mimik an einen Tisch geführt. Unsere Bestellung wurde aufgenommen und sage und schreibe, nach 5 Minuten wurden die Rösti serviert. Entsprechend uncross und wabbelig und geschmacklos war das Ergebnis. Mehrmals waren wir schon im Engel und hatten uns dieses Restaurant für den Hochzeitstag ausgesucht, weil wir immer zufrieden waren. Was ist in diesem Jahr los. Für uns nicht mehr empfehlenswert. .....und auch bei vollem Restaurant sollte es nicht an Grundfreundlichkeit fehlen.

Gute Hausmannskost

Alles in allem ist man hier zum Abendessen gut aufgehoben. Das Lokal ist sehr bodenständig; wenn man das mag, fühlt man sich auch wohl . Wir hatten den Tafelspitz; nichts daran auszusetzen! Der Service ist ebenfalls gut und freundlich. Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist gut.

Bodenständige Kost

Das Wirtshaus Engel ist immer ein Besuch wert, besonders mit der neuen Köchin. Das bodenständige Essen ohne viel Schnickschnack, aber mit guten Produkten macht Freude. Heute war es das frisch vom Jäger (der gerade ein Bier am Tresen trank) gebrachte Rehfleisch, das treffend zum köstlichen Ragout verarbeitet wurde, und das klassische Rindergulasch, das besser nicht zubereitet werden konnte. Dazu ein würziges Egger Bier. Selig verlässt man dieses gemütliche Wirtshaus.
