Comfort, convenience and cosey

Stayed here for two evenings over a weekend. We had dinner in the bistro- which was very generous portions, and happy hour upto 8pm. The room was clean and bed comfortable. The staff at checkin and checkout were very helpful and let us stow our luggage after checkout for a couple of hours. Walking distance to South Melb markets and Albert Park, and tram stop across the road to get to town.

a few issues ..

Coppersmith is well located pub/boutique hotel at quieter end of Clarenden St. However, I experienced a few issues during my 2-night stay which means I would hesitate to book a return stay. After settling in I discovered the blind in my room was broken - it couldn't be closed. I was moved up to another room on the second floor. But this room had a huge concrete wall blocking any natural light from the window. This was disappointing as I had planned to work from the room the next day and needless to say it felt like a downgrade. I asked to be moved and was assured management would contact me the next day about moving again - they didn't. On returning to my room at the end of the second day, the towels had been refreshed but the bed not made. And the television was not working. Apparently this was due to a storm that affected the aerial and not just in my room but other rooms - so no TV. All I wanted to do was relax and watch TV after a medical appointment. The manager suggested I use my work laptop instead. To her credit she arranged a gratis meal to be sent up to my room. On my final morning, housekeeping knocked on my door at 10.30am, 30 mins before the stipulated check-out time of 11am. I felt like I was being rushed to leave. All in all a disappointing stay - I didn't feel like my comfort as a guest was prioritised at Coppersmith. Avoid room 11.

A must visit hotel

What a fabulous hotel. Great location, lovely meals and the owner Paul was a terrific host. And my bed was very comfortable and didn’t trigger any back issues (which often happens in other hotel beds). And what a treat it is to be able to walk around Albert Park Lake during your stay.

Great location, close to everything we were looking for- the South Melbourne Markets, eateries, great coffee and transport.

Great quiet rooms above a friendly local pub close to everything

Great spot, friendly local pub downstairs, really nice rooms upstairs that are quiet. Great value
