What a Memento
Love that W Melbourne is at the heart of the CITY OF MELBOURNE end. Enjoy the quirky & colorful design in the hotel it makes me smile. The check in was smooth and I like that I could book all my breakfast and swimming pool slots for the duration of stay in one go.
Breakfast was a delight. I was expecting to order my eggs or sausages or cereal but each dish was a composition in itself like a mango turmeric bowl with chia seeds and coconut flakes and granola! Of course each dish isn't a full-sized dish so we get to taste various concoctions.
The pool is large and the Tram stops right at the entrance. The most memorable was last night 8 May at 8PM, the Indonesian waiter adored my fragrance inside the Curious Bar and thank you for your encouragement as I am dealing with mother loss. You are UNFORGETTABLE gem.
Enjoyed the bar at woobar too. The staff at the hotel are welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be back!

I’d recommend The W Hotel to anyone that likes their hotels & rooms to be a perfect mix of style & elegance!
I was attracted to book The W by seeing the pics but mainly their pool & after checking in, I can say with confidence that everything from the room to the hotel to the pool was just super stylish! Even the room had its own kind of cool vibe going!
Location is also super convenient right in the heart of the city and 2 mins away from a 7-11 incase you needed something after hours!

This W still has it - great location, service and amenities
I generally have mixed feelings on W properties. Some execute the service, vibe and sleekness well; others feel past their prime, and are more like an aging rockstar still touring decades on - the veneer of edginess is there, but underneath, no longer command the price of admission.
The W Melbourne is of the former. It's a beautiful property in a GREAT location. Once you enter, the sharpness and conformity of the corporate surroundings on the street, give way to a sleek, laidback vibe.
I made a mistake in my booking, not accounting for the date change, and while the hotel was nearly fully committed, they were able to find me a room, and waived the no-show fee, and honored the original room rate. 100% my fault, and yet they came through and got me out of a jam, despite being full. I am truly appreciative of that.
There was a little confusion about a welcome amenity being delivered (but not actually), however the front desk made it right. Writing this not to complain, but to demonstrate that the staff again demonstrated excellent service, and problem solving skills. They truly want their guests to have a memorable experience.
The rooms are a bit dark, which I don't mind, however, I do think they could improve the closet space (which is more of a large cupboard with two drawers), then an actual closet/wardrobe. There is a huge minibar, but no dresser or anywhere to store clothes should you wish to take them out of your luggage. There also wasn't a desk or anywhere in the room to sit and work, besides the bed). I mentioned this to the staff, and they generously offered to find furniture for my room! (I declined, the bed was good enough). I know the W isn't marketed toward the business traveler specifically, but a table or desk would be a smart addition to the rooms. The common areas (lobby, restaurant/lounges) are also a bit austere in terms of furnishings, so there really isn't a great space to setup if you need to do some work.

We were in Melbourne for NYE 24/25 and this was our first stay at a W. The room was everything as expected, unique, clean, quiet, spacious. The rest of the hotel could have been any other and the pool area was not luxe by any stretch of the imagination (more of a public swimming pool feel). Hotel was very well located with access to the better restaurants (on this side of the river) and yet walkable or tram-able to anywhere else in Melbourne.
