Friendly personal service, very clean modern rooms..
We booked many weeks ahead ..Direct with the office = No screw ups Just dealing with a Friendly staff person ,From the Motel, knowing how busy Mackay gets in winter, I asked Linda will my car be Secure here she replied yes it will.
There were many Cameras about the motel, at night there was Plenty
of Lights within the Motel area, Great.
I could see my ..P.J...thru the rooms curtains over the windows
We checked in with Linda, polite, Friendly, i asked to see the refurbed
rooms, no problem she showed me One room, I Looked & Booked it was spotlessly clean, modern bathroom, large Br. good bench space, Nice medium fridge, corner room, Xl U/cover car space Corner unit,
Solid Brick Wall alongside car. Perfect,
We had a Great Lunch at Shamrock hotel a few streets south, we Always eat there, Great meals, reasonably priced, XL lounges In and outside, Great, Relaxing Atmosphere, Friendly staff.
Excellent Sleep, Nice bed, ..Late arvo watching NRL on Nice size Tv
i heard a Loud noise twice i went outside to look and there was the underside of a airliner directly very Low overhead. ..GREAT Sounds
im a member of FNQ. plane spotters, Pity no RAAF /Military craft here.
Checked out next am I said to Linda, i luved the Airliners last evening
She replied they are a...Bonus, " No charge " we will Return to this
Family run Friendly, Helpful, Motel. it would be worth staying longer

Stayed at the kication for 4 nights, have to stay was impressed with the stay. Was greeted by at reception by a lovely lady who explained everything i needed to know and for once seemed as if she was generally interested in where i had been in Australia made a nice change from forced interactions. The room was very clean and came with a nice array of coffee and milk. I was well aware that i wasn't staying in a 5 star hotel and for the price the room and facilites were very good value for money. I mean they even had a pool. Shower was really good. Only downside but in no way the motels fault was that its located directly below the approach to the airport so occasionally can be loud but as its a regional airport its few and far between. So all in all if you need somewhere good value, clean friendly and located perfectly for the main town and airport this is a great place.

Booking and access were easy after a long day's drive with two young children. Room was clean and just right.

Unfortunately, a very disappointing stay.
Room was dirty-noodles on chair, old sock under bed, hair in bed.
Room in disrepair - window where my daughter slept could not close, she had to sleep with it open, curtains falling down, wall paper and paint peeling, walls were stained, plug behind bed not working , extractor fan barely working and stops, marks and mould in bathroom.
Bed on wheels and moves, also uncomfortable.
Pictures on website did not reflect the state of the room (room17). We would have gone elsewhere on arrival, but decided to stick it out due time constraints.
I recommend not renting this family unit out, until it is fixed.

Minus Lodge
The room I had was very rundown but was clean.
The bed was comfortable and linen seemed decent.
If you are staying for a few days, you will discover that they only service the rooms once a week and no cleaning staff over weekends.
The water pressure is well above average. However, my room had a shower floor that sloped steeply to the centre, much like a funnel.
The fridge works well but externally looks rusty.
The carpet was stretched.
Fly screens had holes and the sliding window had no functional rollers so it was very hard to open or close.
The Wifi works well enough.
Some rooms may have been refurbished and some are being refurbished now. They may look as nice as their promo photos.
