Not good looking but very comfortable.
This place doesn’t look good from the outside but it proved to be a good place to stay.
The room was very modest but clean. The shower was strong and hot! Soap, shampoo and conditioner supplied. Good towels.
Bed was comfortable, sheets were crisp and white , pillows good. There was electric blankets but we didn't need it. Extra blanket in cupboard.
Air conditioner worked very efficiently.
Tea and coffee and milk provided. Microwave, toaster, fridge. Crockery and cutlery provided. Small table and chairs.
Walking distance (close) to pub and cafes.
I am glad we chose to stay here.

Great location and clean and tidy
Location was in the middle of town and easy walk to almost everything we needed. Rooms are clean and tidy and Steve the host couldnt be anymore helpful with our stay and ideas on things to do. Seeing it’s a budget motel
You don’t expect a whole lot but was pleasantly surprised with the room set up and the amenities.

The Last Frontier
Not many accommodations to choose from in Dorrigo and quite understandably so, it’s a small town. You have two to choose from if you want to stay within the community of Dorrigo – The Frontier Motel or Heritage Hotel Motel Dorrigo (the pub – pretty much across the road from The Frontier Motel and a little walk further up the road). We selected The Frontier Motel for a two-night stay - a neat set up and recently renovated. Our main purpose was to see Dorrigo National Park, which is only a 5-minute drive away and somewhere to rest. Full payment is at the time of booking online because there is no Reception at The Frontier Motel, but don’t fret, they are only a phone call away. On the morning of our arrival, we received a text confirming booking, the number of our rooms and with a code number to access the keys to our rooms. Free parking available on-site on the gravel – no line markings but park with consideration of others. We used the access code on the key safe lockbox, located nearby the door to our rooms, my daughters’ room was easy but we couldn’t close the lockbox after retrieving the key. I had problems in accessing my key, my fault though, because the ending of my daughters’ access code was (*) and I did the same for mine but should have used (#). Game over! I just couldn’t access my key. I rang reception and the gentleman took no time at all to come over and solve the world’s problem. He did explain that I should have pressed the ‘cancel’ key to start again. But his time wasn’t wasted, as we still needed his help to close the lockbox – it’s old and gets stuck a bit. The presentation of our room was very clean, had all the necessities you need (body wash / shampoo and conditioner, soap, coffee/tea condiments, air con and the necessary appliances), free Wi-Fi, to make our stay comfortable and our bed and pillows were comfortable. Check-out was super easy, just leave your key in the door on the outside. The Frontier Motel was a comfortable place to rest, nice and quiet, conveniently walking distance to everything really… IGA store was literally across the road. We had our breakfast at Tallowood Café, only a hop, skip and a jump away. Dinner at Heritage Hotel Motel and The Cheeky Sparrow Café are only a couple of minutes of walking distance away. And let’s not forget the whole purpose of staying in Dorrigo… Dorrigo National Park but it’s best to drive there but you can walk it, if you want – it will take you at least an hour. The Frontier Motel is a nice place to rest – perfect for travellers who are staying there for a night or two – convenience at your fingertips for sightseeing and simply to relax and/or to have fun.

Book somewhere else
Absolutely shocking, I should of realised when trying to book in July 2025 for a December stay and due to website issues I was not able to book online or by phone to look elsewhere!
I ended up making the booking in August for two night stay in December, making full payment at the time of booking.
I emailed ten days before arriving to confirm booking and then on the morning of our arrival received a text confirming booking with a code number to access key to our room.
Arriving 3.30pm for our check in, found no key in the lock box. Immediately phoning was told they had a double booking and room was not available. We were then placed in a twin room. Fridge did not work, rang someone to come and take a look, was an issue with power board. The room with fridge and microwave that didn’t work was despite being old and run down, was clean.
We were moved into Queen room on night two. The tv did not work properly, the Queen bed very saggy and hugely uncomfortable, old worn carpet and a bathroom that has been attempted to be painted but is in terrible condition.
Having travelled to many different places this is the worst service ever!
My advice is choose somewhere else to stay.
