Modern, sun-drenched, well-appointed & clean but area lacking vibe due to construction
We recently stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment at the Sandbar Apartments in Burleigh Heads. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with some notable highlights and a few areas for improvement.
Positives:
The apartment itself was very impressive. It was spotlessly clean, incredibly spacious, and bathed in natural light thanks to the abundance of windows. There were two balconies, with each bedroom having direct access. The interior featured plush carpet and underlay. We appreciated the modern conveniences, especially the iPad controls for the zoned air conditioning, allowing individual temperature settings for the living room and each bedroom.
The kitchen was well-equipped with a good range of cutlery and cookware, and there was ample storage space throughout the apartment, including the kitchen and bedrooms. The main bedroom boasted a full-sized wardrobe and a walk-in wardrobe, alongside a full-sized fridge in the kitchen. Practical amenities like a washer, dryer, vacuum, and iron were also provided, as was fast internet.
The on-site gym was surprisingly well-appointed for an accommodation facility, offering dumbbells up to 20kg, a cable machine, treadmill, bike, and elliptical.
We were particularly pleased with the quiet environment, with no street noise or disturbances from neighbours, largely thanks to the double-glazed windows. The quality wooden hangers were a small but appreciated touch. The pool area, with its deck chairs and sunroom, was also very nice and quiet during our visit.
Areas for Improvement:
Inside the apartment there were no Flyscreens on the windows and balcony doors. No sheer curtains meant you can either choose to have privacy and a dark interior, or let the sunlight in and be visible- only blackout blinds were present in all rooms. Interior lights were cool white, which is rather harsh in the evening. I found respite in the bedside table lamps which are the only warm white light in the apartment. We also found the absence of a dish drainer inconvenient, as we prefer hand washing rather than using the dishwasher. Also, face washers were not provided. For this reason, I always pack my own.
A point of concern for me was the incredibly strong air freshener scent in the hallway and reception area. For anyone sensitive or aware of the potential effects of artificial fragrances, this is something to be cautious of. Thankfully, the scent did not permeate into the apartment itself. Despite being blackout blinds, they still let in light around the edges, meaning that if sleeping in a bed adjacent to a curtain, outdoor lights could be quite disruptive throughout the night. The shower water pressure was very low, and the car park was quite tight.
Finally, the location's current state presented some challenges. Due to extensive construction work extending both north and south, getting to the apartments and travelling around was difficult. The construction has been going on for several years.A trip to Surfer's Paradise, for example, could take up to 30 minutes during off-peak hours. It was also a little frustrating when reception declined our request for additional bin liners, stating we were in a privately owned apartment.
Sandbar Apartments offers a comfortable and well-appointed stay with spacious, clean interiors and good amenities like a decent gym and quiet surroundings. However, be aware of the ongoing construction in the area and minor inconveniences mentioned above. Factor in extra travel time around the Gold Coast if travelling by car. This is a privately owned apartment and the details within the apartment does not necessarily reflect the situation with other apartments.

Exceptional
We recently stayed for a week and had a very enjoyable time in this unit and location.
The unit is new, modern and bright with plenty of sunshine. Ducted aircon and ceiling fans create a comfortable environment.
We found it to be spotlessly clean and well kept, with modern furnishings and European kitchen appliances. It is beautifully presented.
There are shared amenities including pool, gym, barbeque area and lounge areas which are well maintained.
The location is great for walking trails, with the beach only steps away. Restaurants, boutique shopping and surf clubs are close by.
The unit was let through The Burleigh Letting Co. who are very professional and easy to deal with.
We'll be back and would highly recommend.

if you dont like your job ,,,,
great location , lovely apartment , however
1 . need few more utensils ,
2. nowhere to drop rubbish off
3.asked for couple extra towels , no can do apparently , house keeping knocked off , according to the middle aged lady on desk ,,
AND ,, manner and demeanour of this middle aged lady was not uplifting to say the least ,
everything was an effort ,,
smiling gets you a long way !!!!!

Great design, with easy access
Very well designed apartment
Plenty of glass to enjoy the views
Spoke to a few perminant residents who believe they have won the lottery in their purchase !
2 balconies,one looking North at one looking East to the sea.
Both bedrooms have an ensuite and a view and are well separated . Great layout.

Good but just few teething issues
Just had 7 night stay through Luxury Escapes package and stayed in 2 bedroom on 26 floor with panoramic views to Surfers and hinterland. Great start.
The unit was large and comfortable however the hot water in kitchen and 2 basins in bathrooms wasn’t working.
Reported matter to staff on the Thursday and a plumber attended the next day but still no hot water in bathroom basins.
Staff reported that due to roadworks outside for new G Link rail that there had been water issues. Fair enough but
I reported that water still not right on Saturday but no plumber attended over the weekend. ?
Then again on Monday mentioned to Manager but no real urgency to deal with it???
Still it wasn’t fixed when I left few days later.
Whilst staff were friendly and polite over issue I’m really Not sure why the matter wasn’t dealt with during 7 days there.
Not really good enough and no offer of anything for my inconvenience. I expected being new then plumbing would be warranty issue under building works.
There was roadworks overnight for 5 of 7 days which would have been good to know before we arrived?
There were several nice eating spots nearby ( Palm springs and Light years ) and beach very close.
We have been to Burleigh 4 times but seems much busier now due to new rail link.
Would return again to Sandbar as unit was new and modern and great view and although this issue isn’t a deal breaker it just spoiled visit unnecessarily.
