Higly recommend this as a stopover between Sydney and the Queensland border.

This motel is a Gem, run by caring management who are proud that the hotel is clean and beds are comfortable, while admitting that the facilities are quite dated. We thought it was quaint, and we have stayed in three star motels that were much worse than this accommodation, which surely should be rated more than 1 star. We have been in 4 star accommodation that was not as comfortable.

Great breakfast

The owner had only recently taken over the motel when we visited in July 2025. She was welcoming and ready to help with anything we needed. There's a fair bit of work to do to bring the place up to more stars but it was warm and comfortable and it certainly had character. The generous breakfast, included in the room rate, was help-yourself, in a clean, fully equipped little kitchen. There were even eggs in the fridge.
In our unit, the door between the bathroom/toilet and the bedroom didn't close properly so that wasn't great. We happily recommended the place to a friend passing through Bulahdela later and she liked it too.
We had a good meal at the pub just around the corner.

Unique and a little bizarre.

Our initial external impression of this place was very poor as it looked uncared for & had a big for rent sign painted on a wall. No one was at reception but as arranged our key was in the door. [Some other room doors were ajar]. Breakfast, crockery and cutlery were available from the 'camp kitchen around the back' of the units.
Thankfully the inside was better than out and parts of the unit had been renovated. (In my opinion the renovations do not match the older parts). The whole unit was clean and the bed comfortable.
I think this place is overpriced.

Old and basic.

We stopped here overnight to break a journey. This is an old motel that needs a lot of work to bring it up to acceptable standard. At $122 a double (weekday ) I don’t consider it was a bargain. Bed was reasonably comfortable, linen clean and shower good. Breakfast is self serve cereal and toast in a communal kitchen. Guests are warned to hand wash, dry and put away their own utensils or a charge will apply. There is no way of knowing how hygienic the utensil are. It’s more like a boarding house than a motel.
