Armenian hospitality and Ararat from the window!

In June, my friend (Lilya and Lena) and I visited Armenia for the first time and lived in the Armenia Hostel for all 15 days. I had the best impressions both from Armenia and from the hostel thanks to the hospitality of the people. The service staff is very friendly, especially the administrator Alik: he was always in touch with us, ready to help at any moment. The hostel has a beautiful new elevator. And from the window of our room (looking to the right) Ararat is perfectly visible! The room does not have air conditioning, but there is a large fan, as well as a refrigerator and necessary utensils. Right next to the hostel there is a bus stop with transport to the city center (20 minutes drive). Shops are within walking distance. We would love to come back here again!

Horrible experience with this property!

On June 26, 2017 we made a confirmed booking for Armenia Hostel via Booking.Com for 8 nights. We called them prior to the flight of my brother-in-law to make sure that someone will pick him up at the Airport as it would be his first time to travel there. I was able to speak to Hamlet at least 3 times prior to my brother-in-law's arrival. Everything was well in our conversation/agreement but to our surprise, nobody showed up to pick up my BIL. We tried calling Hamlet/the Hostel but no one is answering our calls. He arrived at the airport 3pm from Dubai, we have been contacting the Hostel until 7pm but no one is responding in our mails and calls. This is soooo horrible to the highest level!!! Imagine being at the airport without knowing where to go in a place you are not familiar with?! I am so upset with Armenia Hostel! I trusted them because of the reviews i have read thats why i did not expect this to happen.

Dear Rico,
Our driver was in airport with your name written on a card on his hand. But unfortunately you didn't seen him.
You are not the first person whom we picked up from airport, and we didn't have even one such case. As a bad coincidence my phone also was broken at that time. So neither you, nor the driver couldn't contact me.
I described this as soon as I was available in a letter in booking.com, airbnb, called your phones in Armenia as well as UAE, but didn't get an answer.
And I offered free stay in our hostel as compensation for inconvenience.
I think it would be better to clarify situation, before writing a bad review.
I hope we will have chance to make a good feeling for you, If you contact us again.

Excellent service, convenient prices, family environment and enthusiastically helpful staff, Areg and Hermine in particular. It was the best experience ever. I am happy having had the Chance to stay with you.

No problem!

When we arrived, we were somewhat sceptical - the outside looks like a really dodgy socialist neighbourhood, and the lift must have been built well in the first half of 20th century. However, the room was good and clean, and breakfast was wonderful, albeit very repetitive. The location is, as I've already mentioned, not the best you can get - there is a marshutka running all day long, but I think it is probably the least frequent one in the whole city. Otherways, a nice stay and a good value.

Warm place with good service

I stayed in this place last April 2016. The room was great! Exactly as seen in pictures. I had all I need for my stay in the room (bathroom, water heater, ref, tv, closets and all the stuff). Loved the scenery of sunset on window view (I wait for it every 7pm). Though the location is quite distant from the city, I find the place perfect with affordability and comfort.
The chief and the staff are hospitable and kind as well as Armen the driver . I love the breakfast as i love the cook, I love the place as i love the views.
