Authentic experience with a great family
We loved everything about this Dar. Upon arrival, it was a little tricky for our taxi driver to find, as it is actually located within the walls of the Kasbah (where cars cannot go), but the owner, Rania, came to find us and brought us to her home. The location turned out to be perfect, as it is right in the middle of everything: 2 minutes' walk from the Old Port, 5 minutes from Sidi Salem Beach, and 10 minutes from the Andalusian fort and theatre.
The house itself is a beautifully restored old, traditional Tunisian home. The family put a lot of effort into making it look and feel exactly how it would in the old days. The walls are beautifully tiled, and the house is exquisitely furnished with traditional Tunisian furniture and knick-knacks. Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The family provided everything we needed, whenever we needed: extra towels, toilet paper, soap, blankets, etc. The breakfast was relaxed, served in the first floor dining room. It included fresh croissants and bread, a hard boiled egg, freshly pressed juice, water, coffee, and a yummy traditional Tunisian dish called Bsissa.
As for the family, they are absolutely wonderful. The whole family lives there: Rania and her husband Safian, their adorable son and daughter, and Rania's parents, all of whom were a pleasure to be around. Rania and Safian were incredibly kind and helpful with any questions that we had.
If you're looking for something other than the run-of-the-mill hotel or B&B experience, there's no better place than this.

Yes, but....
The advertising on Facebook greatly motivated us to stop by during our annual stay in Bizerte during the summer holidays. It's now done. Here is the verdict:
The +
- geographical location on the quietest part of the bank of the old port. Easy to access on foot even for people with reduced mobility. Nearby parking.
- nice setting, terrace, atmosphere, authenticity, all the ingredients that make up the charm of an old port combined
- good food overall or would I say well cooked because the food is generally good in Tunisia.
- good coordination of sequence between starter and main dishes. Original presentation.
THE BIG PLUS. This is the first time that we have been served ALL the main dishes at the same time in a restaurant, a first!

- Unfriendly waiters, slow to relax...
- dishes served lukewarm. Butter knives rather than meat knives...
- on the menu, it was written: "the dishes are all accompanied by 2 starters and a dessert". We were treated to a good fish shorba accompanied by traditional bread called "tabouna" but never saw the color of the supposed 2nd starter. As for dessert, a common dish of peaches that looked not fresh and not very ripe, almost thrown on our table after asking for the bill. Obviously we left it as is.
- the addition ahh famous sensitive subject. Well, let's stay objective. I remind you that we are still in a vacation context so less concerned with expenses and more focused on the pleasure of things but all the same...
1 classic green pepper climbing dish
1 dish of chicken skewers (2 skewers)
1 simple cordon bleu dish
1 dish of lamb cooked in a terracotta jar (one of the most expensive on the menu)
1 bottle of still water 1L
2 cokes in aluminum can
2 fanta in aluminum can
157 dinars. Which is a significant amount for a non-star restaurant.
One thing is certain, for this amount of money it is possible to eat just as well for much less in most restaurants around Bizerte.
It's still a semi-tourist trap I would say...

un hôtel vraiment dépaysant
Magnifique riad traditionnel décoré avec goût, tenu par une famille chaleureuse et prévenante, super petits déjeuners, chambre très agréable, situé au milieu de la médina. Très dépaysant. on y retournera avec plaisir. Dommage le Wifi ne fonctionne pas bien dans la chambre.

Bellissimo Dar antico
Bellissimo Dar antico, ben ristrutturato, a 200mt dall'ingresso della Medina e dal Vieux Port.La famiglia che lo gestisce è molto gentile e disponibile.Colazione e cena a base di cuscus eccellente.Un gioiellino da scoprire!
