Located just 700 metres to Laugardalslaug geothermal swimming pool, Hotel Cabin is in the Reykjavik East district. The Sculpture and Shore Walk promenade is just 400 metres away from the hotel, while Reykjavík city centre is 1.5 km away.

Room was clean and roomy (I was given a triple and traveling alone). Appreciated the free parking in the city. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Very compact!
I came to Iceland to see the August 12th 2026 eclipse. I booked the trip through a travel agency. Didn’t get the hotel information until receiving the travel documents so I knew nothing about Hotel Cabin.
The FlyBus dropped me off at Hotel Cabin at 1:30 but my room wasn’t ready and I had to wait until the 3pm check-in.
Thankfully, I was a solo traveler. There were two single beds but two people could not share that (or any similar) room. The room is exactly as pictured. The door opens out into the hall and you step into the tiny bedroom. The door to the right opens to an equally tiny bathroom.
My luggage was a large backpack. It was too big to fit on the “nightstand” along the window wall. There’s another larger nightstand on the other side of the bed which also includes a hanging space and shelves. I left the backpack on the bed for my four night trip.
There was a stool on top of the hanging space which I used in the bathroom to hold my toiletries.
The large overhead shower head was positioned to a corner of the tiny shower. I didn’t bother pulling together the shower doors. Two bath towels and two hand towels. This is Iceland so hot water is plentiful.
I don’t know how two people could exist in that room. There was barely enough space to move at the foot of the bed.
The bed was comfortable but I had the use of both of them.
The television is mounted almost at the ceiling so watching TV while lying down but looking up was awkward.
My window looked out on a construction demolition site.
Breakfast was served from 7-10am. Very basic and simple. Beans and sausages. Pancakes. Boiled eggs. Cold cuts. Cheese. Bread. Oatmeal. Fruit. There is also an orange colored liquid under a sign saying Orange Juice. Spoke with some other guests and thought it might be very watered down Tang but there was no taste to it. None.
The Hotel Cabin (is it because the room is like a cabin?) was clean and comfortable. It was at capacity (because of the eclipse, I assume) with a steady flow of guests checking in. There was a full bar in the lobby with a daily Happy Hour advertised that was very popular.

Terrible place. We Don’t recommend
Worst stay I’ve ever experienced staff was rude and the room was very small and bad. Don’t recommend. Go somewhere else.

Just for one night
Check-in took a long time. Two people with two suitcases won't fit. I had a wheelchair, and I could chose to either fild it, or pay more, simply because of my disability. The shower and toilet were so tiny, my arms hut the wall. Breakfast is simple but OK. Outside my window was a construction site. For one night ok, but no longer, and the price was too high in relation to what you get.

The hotel is a bit far from the action, but still a busy street, so not quieter. The hot water didn't work on arrival, but was fixed later that day. The room is very small. But overall, it is a good value for the money, so I would recommend it if the location works for you.
