My family and I decided to change the usual village retreat familiar to everyone in Balina for the day.
Took a long time to find a place to go and discovered this hotel by chance.
The hotel is in the foothills of the volcano, you drive to it a dim paved road, there are rare houses and rice fields around, along the way there were honest fears that the hotel would not match the photos.... But when we arrived, all fears were allayed.
Very friendly staff, great well maintained grounds.
We were put in a villa with great views of the rainforest. The villa has everything you need, a minibar.
We spent the day walking through the woods, down to a small waterfall. Enjoyed quiet contemplation in nature.
Dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Everything was delicious and big portions.
I highly recommend this hotel for a day or two to take a little break from the hustle and bustle and get away from reality.

Bali’s best kept secret hidden gem
We’re so grateful our friend told us about this hidden gem. Alassari Plantation truly feels like Bali’s best-kept secret.
We stayed for just one night, which was far too short, and booked a private villa, Villa Tiga. Words honestly can’t describe how amazed we were by the ornate old Javanese wooden villa. It felt like living inside a piece of history. The craftsmanship is extraordinary; every detail tells a story.
Our villa was incredibly private, quiet, and peaceful. The outdoor balcony overlooked the jungle and sunrise, accompanied by the soothing sound of a nearby waterfall. For a full 24 hours, we were completely immersed in nature. There was minimal mobile signal and limited Wi-Fi, which turned out to be a gift; it truly quieted our minds and helped us disconnect in the best way.
The food was amazing, and the staff were genuinely kind and attentive. Everything here moves at a slower, more intentional pace; perfect if you’re looking to unplug and step away from the noise of the world.
The property itself is magical: a real suspension bridge spanning the jungle valley, a Buddha walking and hiking trail, waterfalls, a river, a spa, and a yoga shala. The attention to detail throughout the entire plantation is incredible. Half the time, we didn’t even know where we were; it honestly felt like being in another world.
It was a deeply peaceful, grounding, and wonderful experience. If this sounds like your kind of escape, I can’t recommend Alassari Plantation enough. With only around 10 private villas, be sure to book in advance.

The most amazing place, spacious villa, all wood with carvings. Plantation with many different trees and plants. So quiet. Pool area so beautiful with nice furniture.

Extraordinaore
Extraordinary experience. In the heart of the Balinese jungle, sublime independent accommodation. We live in the heart of nature. Far from southern coastal tourism, you can descend into the heart of the forest on the suspension bridge to the fountains and natural pool. We stayed there at the beginning of the rainy season, which makes the place magical. The staff is very attentive and really adorable. The whole kitchen is prepared in the moment. Bravo and thank you.

A Peaceful Retreat in Nature
I had such a lovely stay at Alassari Sanctuary and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a quieter, more peaceful side of Bali.
It’s in such a beautiful location, away from the busier areas like Canggu and Seminyak, and it really feels like the perfect place to slow down, switch off and reconnect with nature - and my dog was in her Element too!
The surroundings are stunning - so much greenery, with jungle, river and rice field views that make the whole place feel incredibly calm and special. One of the things I loved most was how immersed in nature you feel the entire time, with little pathways leading you through the sanctuary to the different villas and accommodation.
Everything felt very thoughtful and intentional, and I especially loved the farm-to-table element, with fruits, vegetables and herbs grown on site. It made the whole experience feel even more unique and connected to the environment.
The staff were so lovely and very attentive, the food was delicious (my favourite was the crepe pancakes!), and the whole atmosphere felt peaceful, mindful and welcoming.
I also really enjoyed exploring the area and spending time just soaking everything in.
It’s the kind of place that feels like a retreat. It was exactly what I need to slow down and relax for the weekend - it truly was a special stay, and somewhere I would definitely come back to for a longer visit in the near future.
