Highly recommended for relaxing holidays !
Stayed in a newly refurbished room with a nice balcony, clean, with air condition, and even hair dryer and a tea set. Dimitris and Maria also have a restaurant offering delicious, fresh, quality meals cooked by Maria, often with fresh vegetables or fruits from their garden, on a lovely new pergola. You can also request a particular dish, should you wish to do so.
The place is quiet, has a lovely familial, personal atmosphere, being run by loving members of the same family, which makes all the difference from big anonymous hotels. They make themselves very available for advice (places and restaurants to go to), help of any kind, for instance to organize a transfer or rent a car.
Marathias beach is indeed very near (about 200m away). It's quite a large sandy beach, with good sand, crystal clean waters, safe for children (no sudden drop off, no current), quiet (no boats, jet skis etc.), perfect for a long swim and walks on the beach. You can choose lounges and umbrellas from different establishment on the beach. We always went to the closest one, where you don't have to pay for the lounges if you order food or a drink from the restaurant by the beach. It was the kingdom of Mr Christos, competently dealing with the food or drink orders, helping with the umbrellas, always with a smile. Food on the beach was also delicious, and affordable (fried fish, squids,saganaki, etc). So nice to get something else than the unavoidable sandwiches you generally find on the beach!
Last but definitely not least, there is also a little shop just opposite the entrance of Family studios run by Mrs Penelope, the aunt of Dimitris. Apart from warm hearted and full of humour, she also has a small but very well stocked shop with bottles of water and other drinks, first necessity goods, but also stuff for the beach and even handicrafts from the island. All very handy and we went there almost daily !

A Disappointing Stay: Worn Rooms, Mold, and Misleading Amenities
We were really disappointed by the accommodation. The rooms feel worn, the bed and wardrobe looked newer, the bathroom is moldy and there is sewage smell. Basic plastic chairs, no place to sit together as whole group. Common spaces not maintained well (broken seating in the back garden, shower overgrown with plants and floor covered in algae, some old stuff like broken chairs, some clutter in the back and in the end of access road not even covered). Host was friendly and breakfast was simple but ok. The location is great, really near the beach. I recommend to stay away from this accommodation. We really had to leave and change after first night. I should have been suspicious when there were no bathroom photos in booking page.
In detail:
We were promised kitchen in the booking reservation for our room, but there was nothing to cook or fridge. The bathroom was toilet and shower together (no wall between them) moldy and with sewage smell, faucet and vanity old and not too clean. Light on the cabinet was isolated with tape only. On positives, owner tries to fix things, the beds and rest of the room was clean
However there were also some flaws - anti mosquito net only installed on one window, no fridge, no glasses (We got some when we ask for). Basic seating with worn plastic chairs and small table.
Owner offered us to change room on the other day as on booking we should have kitchen. We were given room upstairs. Ok it had stove, fridge and countertop, but again things were missing (not enough cutlery, cups, no pan), very old (stove, pots, fridge - was big though) and bathroom now had separated toilet and shower but the sewage smell still there, shower corner moldy. From the reviews it looks there is at least one really renovated room, but we saw two and none of them really was. It was also really expensive
We cannot stand this and we walked around to find new place to stay. We were lucky there was availability in other house near the same beach

Delicous, home made
Delicious home made food. Typical local dishes cost no more than 10 euro for a portion, alcohol is relatively pricy for this location (6 euro for half litre of home wine, beer 3 euro).
I recommend you to see live music which is played each week on Thursday evening.
Maria, the owner is very nice and helpful.
Located 100 metres from beautiful big sandy beach.
All in all, it's one of the best I visited on Corfu).

Very nice location, warm & friendly people
The Family Studios is owned by a nice family, who will do everything to make your holiday as nice as possible. We booked half-board, so Maria (the mother & owner) cooked us a genuine Greek meal every day and it was delicious! This is real traditional food. The breakfast was also nice, with tasty bread, ham, cheese, marmelade, eggs, coffee, juice, tea, etc. Dimitri was also a very nice host and he did all he can to make his guests feel at home and not to worry about anything. The rooms are decent, nice beds, nice view (!) over Marathias and the beach and very quiet at night.
The beach of Marathias is small, but perfect. It has sand, some beach bars/tavernas (one of them is owned by Dimitri) which serves cocktails, snacks, etc. With a car, the whole island can be discovered within a few days, since it is not very big.
Marathias is very small and has a few b&b', studios, rooms, so it's not very crowded (we went in september, so I don't know how the summer months are).
I recommend Marathias especially to couples, for a nice and romantic holiday. If you stay with Maria, Dimitri and Georg, you will have a greay holiday, with the best Moussaka (made by Maria) you will ever taste and on thursday the nicest traditional music played by Dimitri. The sirtaki will never be the same again to me :)

Felt let down
Booked a night in this place. Turned up 5 o'clock tired after our long day on a quad. Woke the owner up as it was siesta! She informed us that she was fully booked and wasn't expecting us even though we had confirmation. She was rather rude and dismissive. She told us that her son deals with Internet bookings and was in Corfu town and hadn't looked at his email. Not our problem. After about two hours she remembered the other apartments her son had down the road! Great we could stay there. She had no key so couldn't lock door, the electric was off, luckily my boyfriend found the box to turn it on. But the fridge and cooker didn't work the shower did yay!. Got changed showered and walked up to her place for dinner, it was quite nice had souvlaki however, my boyfriend found two pieces of cling film cooked to perfection in his! I called her over and it was laughed off as one of those things! Totally unbelievable there was no apologies and no discount. We will not be staying here again or recommend it, as the service was appalling. Still paid the full €25. Stay away from this place. Unless you are 100% sure you have a room.
