Nice place, beautiful peaceful location

Fantastic lovely place, super breakfast, including homemade bread, quality tea. Outdoor kitchen available with both grill and pizza oven.: the hotel handles the dishwasher. Walking distance to the beach. Wifi in the top, possibility to rent a bike. See you next year.

Very disappointing, not at all the standard we expected

We paid over DKK 8,000 for five nights at Hotel Skovly and unfortunately the stay was a big disappointment. This applied to both the cleaning, the condition of the room, the level of service and our overall experience of the place.
Our overall impression was more like a hostel than a hotel. We do not expect luxury or 24-hour service, but for over NOK 1,600 per night we would have expected a significantly higher level.
The reception was closed at 19 a.m. every day. Breakfast was only from 8-10am, and here the guests had to clean up after themselves. There was also a small “tag yourself” bar with beer and water, but it was never staffed – neither during the day nor in the evening. One took his own drinks and was responsible for the settlement. Self-service can of course be a concept, but overall the level of service felt very limited in relation to the price.
The worst was the cleanliness and the condition of the room.
There were large amounts of dust, hair and dirt behind and under furniture, along panels and around installations. Several of the places that were obviously not immediately visible seemed as if they had not been properly cleaned for a very long time. We have photos from the stay that show that.
We were also worried about moisture and dark, stained coatings on the inside of the window frames, which to us looked like mold or mold. On the wall there was also a clear discoloration/drawing from the ceiling and down, which resembled signs of moisture or previous water impact.
Of course, we cannot determine whether it was actually mold or water damage, but it was definitely not something we expected to experience in a hotel room. At the same time I repeatedly experienced a real headache when we stayed in the room. I can't say if there was a connection, but the combination made us very uncomfortable with the indoor climate.
The room was also generally very worn. Among other things, the terrace door was so worn that it could not be closed properly. A hotel may be old and charming, but old and charming is not the same as dirty and poorly kept.
The cleaning standard unfortunately made us insecure in relation to breakfast. When we investigated the site’s food control online, we could only find a smiley/control report from 2022. Of course, this does not mean in itself that there are problems with the kitchen, and we have not seen the kitchen. But compared to the cleaning standard we experienced on site, it did not make us very safe eating breakfast during our stay.
We didn't complain while we were there. Normally we would have made the attention of such serious shortcomings, but our experience of communication with the owner was unfortunately that the tone could seem passive-aggressive and rejecting. We therefore did not feel comfortable taking a confrontation while still staying there.
This is a pity, because the place is lovely, and we were looking forward to five pleasant days. We did not expect a luxury hotel, but when you pay over NOK 8,000 for five nights, we believe that you should at least expect a clean and well-maintained room, a closable terrace door and a level of service that feels like a hotel stay.
For us, price and quality simply stood very far apart. We would not choose Hotel Skovly again.
The photos are taken during our stay and show some of the conditions we experienced.

Nice small hotel in the forest near Rønne

It was our 2nd time at Hotel Skovly which has everything the heart desires and completely in gear
Lovely rooms with private terrace, great breakfast and super welcoming staff.
In July there is a cosy free summer bar from 16-17.
Outdoor kitchen for free use with lots of gas grills and a pizza oven and service etc.
we will definitely come back and look forward to the next time

After four days on Bornholm, this was the best hotel. Short to the beach, very nice garden, the service was in top. Breakfast local, but excellent.
