Absolutely gorgeous & magical!
We only got to stay one night but we would return in a heartbeat. We were not part of a wedding - just in Varenna for fun but before our arrival I was concerned by some of the reviews I saw online saying don’t stay here unless you are part of a wedding and it almost scared me away, I’m soo glad I ignored the warning! We were staying on a Saturday so we assumed there would be a wedding & there was, but it didn’t bother us a bit! Our room actually overlooked the terrace so we had a Birds Eye view of the setup & thought it was gorgeous. The music cut off right at 11pm and we were out until around then anyway. We arrived in the early afternoon and were able to get into our room early which we appreciated. They told us the terrace & surrounding areas would be closed from 3-11pm but we had time to walk around before then & we just headed over to their sister property for drinks once it closed. The staff next door was so welcoming & kind & the cocktails were not only awesome but gorgeous! They actually gave us a table in the restaurant area since the bar was full & we had a great afternoon. Headed out to dinner & came back for another round of drinks in the upper bar next door and that was awesome as well. The next morning everything was cleared out & we had the property pretty much to ourselves to wander through the gardens & we got tons of great photos with no one around. Absolutely stunning!! We would love to return & highly recommend!!

This was the best stay ever. Such a beautiful place and worth every penny. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. The view from my room of the lake was amazing. Thank you and I hope to stay again one day.

Great party room, bad hotel!
This establishment should stop hosting activities and devote itself only to the wedding parties that occur every day!
We paid for nights equivalent to a luxury hotel for a service inferior to any Ibis.
You are forced to sleep very late because the parties take place all night with music in very high volume and the guests remain noisy even after the songs are over.
The most beautiful areas of the hotel are blocked access to guests, so you will not see the environments with attractive photos from the social networks that the hotel shows. The remaining areas are full of tourists who pay to access and compete for each free space for photos.
The room is small, with a basic decoration, uncomfortable bed, are two of singles remodeled.
Breakfast is excellent, at least one positive point.
The view to the lake is really stunning, as in several more economical places of Varenna. Bad investment of 750 euros per day. The amount charged is quite dishonest in relation to the service offered.
The tip is to stay in a better hotel with a fair price and only visit the gardens of Villa Cipressi.

Not a 4 star
This hotel should not be rated 4 stars. Our room although large was not clean and very, very cold. We called and asked for help to turn on heat and the girl at the front desk said that the hotels policy was not to turn heat on because it was regulated by the town. They offered one blanket. There was a wedding at the hotel and you could here the people and the music like it was inside our room. We called the front desk again to see if there was something they could do but nothing was done or even offered. The shower leaked all over the bathroom and the towel warmer did not work, which would have been nice as it was so cold. The hotel is awkward in that it doesn't even have a proper entrance. This hotel is old and needs complete remodel. Please avoid this place.

Italian regulations divide the country into zones, each with specific start dates for turning on heating systems. Unfortunately, we were unable to activate the heating before October 15. I Didn’t Want to Leave!
There isn’t enough room to rave about this hotel! The hotel is stunning and luxurious! The staff worked tirelessly to make every single aspect of our stay perfect! From Veronica and Angela at the front desk, to Marco the concierge who planned each day for us, to Tanya, who fed us every day and gave us the best advice! The gardens are incredible and the hotel is comfortable. I didn’t want to leave!
