Culinary delights in the wine-growing village...

...right at the entrance to the Palatinate Forest. Excellent restaurant, very popular. Beautiful hotel, quietly located on the outskirts of town. Friendly staff. Very nice owners who are actively involved in the hotel and the kitchen. Good starting point for hikes in the forest. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately only one night, very good rooms, very good breakfast.
A quietly located hotel with very good service.
Choose breakfast from the menu the evening before, no problem if you want something more. Nice staff.

Part of a lovely holiday

We were very pleased to have chosen this hotel and restaurant. very nice helpful people. A lovely well appointed room - well a suite actually with a fabulous view of the Vines. They gave good advice and a map of a walk. We stayed only two nights and usually like to try an alternative restaurants but the food was so good of the highest standard that we used their restaurant both evenings. They explained the dishes well and took trouble with the service. Great breakfast.

Good restaurant with a nice hotel

17 years ago we visited the Castell for the first time, being just completed as a newly built hotel a few 100 yards outside the villages center. The food this time was equally good - a nice coice inspired by the local traditions accompanied by a great choice of wines from the region. It is nice to have restaurant and hotel together, it allows you to drink without any concerns. That though would be true with any other place in this little village - everything is just minutes away to walk. The hotel rooms are effective, but miss some charme compared to the excellent food.

Hervorragendes Menue, aber der Rest....

Wir hatten 1 Arrangement für 1 Nacht gebucht, welches ein 4 Gänge Menue und Frühstück enthielt. Beides durften wir auf der gemütlichen Terrasse einnehmen. Am Menue gab es garnichts auszusetzen. Weder am Service, noch an der Location und schon gar nicht am sehr leckeren Essen. Eigentlich 5 Sterne.
Aber, das Zimmer, ein in die Jahre gekommenes und mit Badewanne! bestücktes Kämmerlein. Das Bett fast auf dem Boden und bretthart, und noch mit Winterzudecken ausgestattet, und das bei 30 Grad.
Das Frühstück mussten wir am Vorabend bestellen, per ankreuzen auf einem Vordruck. Serviert wurden in Zellophan eingepackte Portionen, zusammen mit Blümchenkaffee und im Mondschein aufgebackenen Brötchen.
Sorry, aber diese Umstände kann auch das, und das betone ich noch einmal ausdrücklich, äußerst leckere Menue (ein Gaumenschmauss), leider nicht aufwiegen. Die 300 Euro sind alles in allem nicht gerechtfertigt.
